Nissan Frontier Electric Truck

Electric Trucks, we are all waiting patiently for them to hit the market in greater volume, but this customer decided not to wait! I was able to use a Nissan Leaf drivetrain in the truck and the final result looks meant to be.

The specs include:

  • 150 HP (110 kw) electric motor

  • 250 ft-lbs torque

  • 40kwh 400v lithium battery

  • 150+ miles range

  • 5-speed manual transmission

  • Chademo DC fast charging

  • Solar charging

The build is aimed to keep the original bed and cab of the pickup truck unmodified and create an ultra-practical EV pickup truck. The donor parts come from a 2019 Nissan LEAF which both keeps the cost of the conversion down but also brings 400v architecture, fast charging, and a powerful and lightweight synchronous AC motor. The end result is a torquey and smooth pickup truck that is smaller in every dimension than the original LEAF and lighter weight too!

This truck belongs to Dave, a retired shop teacher. He plans to use this truck to visit his off-grid cabin in the San Luis Valley and his son in Ft. Collins.

Here are a few more pictures from the build!
